Ade is best known as a comedian in The Young Ones, Bottom, and The Comic Strip Presents. Though he’s no stranger to the music world having played the Monsters of Rock and Reading Festivals with Bad News, the Hootenanny with Jools Holland, Hyde Park with The Who, and he’s toured with The Bonzo Dog Doo-dah Band.
The Bad Shepherds are a fantastic vehicle for Ade to continue his musical roots. Having ditched the rubber frying pans, we now find him with Andy Dinan (Fiddle) and Troy Donockley (Uillean pipes, cittern, whistles, vocals) performing well known punk songs with a folk twist. There is a genuine inventiveness and a new approach to the songs, and a high quality delivery, as you would expect from musicians of this calibre. But most striking is the honesty of the intention. This is not just a famous comedian wanting a new play thing, but a man who loves his music with a need to get out there and perform. And, of course, there is no lack of humour.
