Tom has been regarded as the top fiddle player in the country for many years and won the coveted ‘Musician of The Year’ at the BBC Folk awards in 2009. Styles and techniques learned in the company of masters Sean McGuire, Stephane Grapelli and Bluegrass legend Byron Berline, give Tom an endless variety of interpretations to his songs and tunes.

His live performance combines a rollercoaster of musical delights from fast, rhythmic dance tunes through beautiful slow airs and of course, great singing; - all presented with his inimitable sense of humour and style.

Tom will appear at the Shrewsbury Folk Festival with his own band which includes, guitarist David Newey, Phil Murray on acoustic bass, Shona Kipling: accordion and Andy Watt on both guitar and mandolin. As most of you will know all of these band members are highly regarded in their own right, together and under the leadership of Tom McConville they combine to produce an electrifying sound and breath taking concert performances.
