Shropshire Bedlams & Martha Rhoden’s Tuppenny Dish

Shropshire Bedlams & Martha Rhoden’s Tuppenny Dish

Shropshire Bedlams and Martha Rhoden’s Tuppenny Dish, now regulars at the festival, were started in 1975 by John Kirkpatrick and Sue Harris.

The Bedlams energetic and distinctive style has been the inspiration for many of the revival border Morris teams seen today. John is still dancing and playing with them today and we are very pleased that he is leading a one off workshop on playing for Morris dancing on Sunday. Martha Rhoden’s Tuppenny Dish wanted a women's style - energetic, strong and graceful dance using big movements - so they use handkerchiefs rather than sticks. They perform throughout the UK and abroad, catch them on Sunday only.
