Dr Sunshine (Dave Hunt) is the children’s events festival director. Working with his wife (Maggie) they organise all of the children’s events at Shrewsbury Folk Festival
They specialise in audience involvement with lots of participation, with rhymes, tongue twisters, stories and games. Lots of fun and laughter, along with some VERY silly songs ensure that everyone takes part and has a great time.
Parachute Games - suitable for children over 5. This is always one of the activities most requested and enjoyed by the children (big growed-up kids love it too!). Silly Sports are suitable for children of all ages and adults too! The team organise and run the daftest ‘Sports Meeting’ imaginable. Featured events include such gems as the Five-legged Wheelbarrow Race, The Fireman’s Water Relay and the Pantomime Horse Gymkhana (none of which are official Olympic sports....yet!).
The team also work with children to produce Mummers Plays, and create, with the children, a vast array of costumes and props. Watch out for the big parades, unbelievable costume creations, marvellous modes of transport, plays on the Village stage – and all manner of musical madness.
